Day 1HOORAY! the day we've been waiting for! FRIDAY! We had our first lesson of ice skating and it kicked off with a hilarious start. and ended crazily funny as well :D This ought to be one of the most memorable experiences i've ever had. i can say the same for Habibah!
The hilarious day starts not at the ice rink itself, but right from the start of the day, in the morning. Habibah proudly entered the school in camp tee and track pants, unaware that she is in the wrong attire. In the beginning it wasnt so bad, she came to school early, so there are little people. it was until she started to walk around the school that she noticed people staring at her, looking as though she doesnt belong there, in the wrong school.
Anyway. So we had to go to the general office to borrow a blouse for Habibah, for assembly. I wore camp tee too, but i'm much more prepared than Habibah :D i brought blouse just in case! MUHAHA.
Then we boarded the bus, which is the small small kind, can only seat 15 ppl de. We joked(Actually more of Habibah and me shooting lame stuff at each other lah) and ate chocolates and biscuits throughout the journey....to SNOW CITY!
When we saw that we are nearing the science centre and going into the car park there, we were stunned. Seeing the SNOW CITY there, epiphany hit us! Mr C actually thought that we are going snowboarding instead of ice skating -.- Then the excited few of us - Habibah, Lele and me, rushed out of the bus to Mr C's car and screamed at him that the Fuji Ice palace is at the Jurong MRT. We were laughing non stop and when we returned to the bus, we were speculating what Mr C would have thought it was. One of them was at the top of the Fuji mountain. We would love to be able to travel to a foreign country really.
Then we were at the ice skating rink after some hustle. We were separated out into different groups to attach to one of the coaches. Our coach was kristina (i think that's her name o.o). and Mr C came to join us in ice skating. it's really hilarious. he was walking unnaturally on the ice and looked as though he spent a lot of effort just to get into the circle we were forming. We learnt how to get up when we fall and also how to glide forward that day. Mr C was amusing. he just moved his 2 legs and not moving forward at all, moving on the spot XDDDD. The rest of us were pro alr ;) Habibah wasnt as bad as she'd thought.
Uh. maybe it didnt do her knee too good. icky bruises. countless slips. wells. it's only the first day.
Day 2
Okay maybe i carnt remember much abt it. i think we learnt forward swizzle (wait that doesnt sound right) and how to glide with 2 feet that day. not that that helps much for the 4 of us, excluding habibah. muhaha. we were quite fine moving forward, and i was excited to learn how to move backwards. habibah didnt complete the goal of falling less than 5 times today. yikes. but it was really fun :D oh i think we learnt how to turn as well. Habibah have to work on it, really. She usually turns one full round, or so stiff that she moves straight. but carn blame her for that! poor knees.
Oh and there's this interesting auntie who was learning to ice skate. She just scolds you if you enter the centre of the rink where the lessons occur, or when you go in the opp direction around the rink, or just whatever. but she's not bad. she advised us to bend our knees more. we know that, but wells, it was a good intention.
Day 3
I think the knees were worse today. and we learnt backwards swizzle and wiggle. love those words ;D so then it was worse. and finally i've got sth to work on. by the end of it i got a little more confident moving backwards. habibah wasnt bad considering that she had knee injury. XD sounds a little serious huh. and throughout we joked and stuff. ice skating is really really enjoyable! (oh and Mr C didnt come down to join us thereafter *guffaw*)
Day 4
then we learnt to do the one foot glide. only. it wasnt too bad! and habibah's knee got considerably better. and she skates much better alr. told you you're gonna be fine! i pratised backwards wiggle somemore and gotten some more speed. the feeling is absolutely exhilarating. except when you accidentally knock into someone. yikes. the auntie kinda nagged and told me off, saying that i shld look behind me every few steps and so on. i was quite in an awkward situaqtion. i wanted to continue skating, but i cant just turn my back on her when she's talking. wells. patience kicks in. and as i continued to practise moving backwards, whenever she sees me, she would remind me over and over again. habibah encountered her scolding much more than i did though. and she commented that her nails were sharp. she grabbed her from behind just to tell her (insert sth her. i forgot what.habibah come fill this in!). eccentric.
and we had an interesting chat with Mr C
Lele: you know what we call mrs L? lai lai.
Mr C: Oh so that's what you call her.interesting.
Habibah: Dora the explorer also!
Mr C: huh? why?
Ryl and Lele: Cos her hair looks like hers.
Mr C: Oh...that's a cute name. Do i have any of those nicknames?
all of us: no.
Habibah: Got also dont want to tell you.
Mr C: Oh, interesting name! Mr got-also-dont-want-to-tell you!
all of us: -.-llll
then i experimented. Mr got..?
Mr C: Oh you calling me?
we just burst out laughing.
this is just a rough overview of what we said. carn rmb that clearly alr.
he joined us again today as well. he wasnt good enough moving forwards, and he wanted to know how to go backwards. i showed him and asked him to wiggle his bottom. i glided quite fast away from him and when i see him doing it, he just shook his butt on the spot XD. june was there as well and we just laughed. so then all of us happily skated all over the rink adn mr c was still struggling to do backwards. we really liked to annoy him i realised.
at the end of the day, he concluded this: Habibah was the -point to the head, making a click sound with the tongue- one, and i'm the giggly one. how nice.
Day 5
oh oh. today we had the test on all the moves we learnt so far. i still fail at one foot glide. i always fall into the hole ie. lift the wrong leg. lalala. doesnt matter though, i can do it. and we all PASSED! yay! XD and we learnt how to spin! i fail at that x.x habibah was surprisingly good at it. then i realised that i can only spin from the right, not the left as what the others did. and i got considerably better. but i can only spin 1 and 1/2 rounds at most. i get dizzy too easily. ryl and lele were good eh! june a little hiong lah. XD actually me too eh. but wells. it was very every interesting and fun! I miss it, but with the prospect of sch holidays coming up, it's not that bad to have it ended i guess?
